The road out of town is good. Not much traffic. Wide and not many pot holes. Our first stop will be the military check point at the entrance to the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve. You pass through the arches and pay a small fee (I think it was 20 pesos.). Sign the guest book and you are on your way. No problem with the military. Time for a cerveza.

Our first priority is to stock up on plenty of cold cerevzas and enough ice to keep them that way during the 2 1/2 to 4 hour trip down the Boca Paila Road. Our journey starts out in Tulum and ends up at the end of the road (literaly) in Punta Allen. Our mission is to bring back enough lobster to last us through dinner and tomorrow's breakfast. We will be having lobster lunch once there. Plenty of gas, spare tire, a jack that works, and we are ready to go.

Finally arrive and have lunch. Now this is a nice open air restaurant. The food was great. I came for lobster and that is what I had. The lobster processing plant is a blue building about 300 meters behind the restaurant. You order lobster and tell the waiter what size you would like. He runs to the plant and brings them back to get your approval. If you agree that they are the right size, they are put on the grill. If not, he runs back and gets more. A couple cold cerevezas and a huge lobster lunch. It doesn't get much better. One last thing to do before heading back. We still have to buy lobster to go. At $20 dollars US a kilo, you can't go wrong.

This is the end of the road. Can't go any farther. Look at a map. The only thing to do is turn around. There was no one around and the lighthouse was locked. Hammocks are hung in the white building but still couldn't find someone to let us in. It is about 2:00pm now, so time to head back. Need to get back to Tulum for lobster dinner.

We arrived back from Punt Allen in good time. It took 1 1/2 hours to drive back. I knew what to expect on the way back and wasn't worried. The girls were a little upset from me hitting a few extra pot holes. I guess their boobs were sore.
We are staying at the Piedra Escondido in Tulum. Dropped off the lobsters to the cook at the restaurant to be served with dinner and settled back in the bar for a cold cerveza and talk about the day's adventures. The sky was getting dark and it was starting to rain. All of a sudden, this funnel cloud appeared and came in from the ocean. Everyone ran out of the bar. The cloud pased right above us. I thought it was a tornado coming to take me back to Kansas. I found out later that it was just a vertigas. Very common in Quintana Roo. It was a very interesting day.
